Soldiers, firefighters and members of the National Civil Police looking for 12 young scouts who left last Saturday excursion to explore the Sierra de las Minas, but went astray and have not appeared.
Young had been scheduled to enter the Sierra from the village Chilascó, Baja Verapaz, and exit at San Agustin Acasaguastlán, El Progreso, a journey that some already knew but apparently not found.
The fire commander Carlos Sosa said that rescuers were deployed at various points to find the trace of the young, but the biggest problem was the lack of communication among themselves, because there is no cell signal or radio.
"Now what most concerns us is that young people are safe and maintain supplies," said Sosa.
The group was composed of scouts from the capital and Sacatepéquez.
